Lauretta — Gianni Schicchi
August 2013 Performance
The Aspen Music Festival, Wheeler Opera House | Aspen, CO
Conductor: Tomáš Netopil
Director: James Marvel
REVIEWs:
"Rafael Morales’s lyric tenor made Rinuccio’s ardent music flow winningly and matched up appealingly with Amanda Woodbury’s soprano. Her well-sung Lauretta—hardly the innocent, petulant teenager usually portrayed—began the most famous aria of the opera, “O, mio babbino caro,” with a palpable sense of entitlement, only in the final phrases supplicating to her daddy. It worked."
